ECAC Announces Women's Cross Country Athletes of the Week
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Women’s Cross Country Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 1.
DIVISION II
Runner of the Week
Diana Dunn – SO, West Chester University
Dunn finished third overall amongst 167 runners with a time of 21:24 (5:44 pace) at the Paul Short Invitational. In the Brown six-kilometer, Dunn captured another top five performance as the Golden Rams finished eighth with 238 points.
Rookie of the Week
Monicha Jebor – FR, New York Institute of Technology
Jebor won her first collegiate race, finishing first of 59 competitors at the CSI Invitational. She produced a six-kilometer time of 24.57.9 to help NYIT win the eight-team event.
DIVISION III – Metro
Runner of the Week
Erin MacDonell – SR, St. Joseph’s College – Long Island
MacDonell placed second (top Division III finisher) out of 198 runners at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational. The senior completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 24:37.
Rookie of the Week
Meagan Haviland – FR, St. Joseph’s College – Long Island
Haviland placed 14th out of 198 runners at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational. The freshman completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 25:53.
DIVISION III – North
Runner of the Week
Clare Schoen – JR, Misericordia University
Schoen won the Dickinson Long-Short four-kilometer race and led the Cougars to a second-place team finish. The junior won the race in a field of 181 runners in a time of 14:23.6.
DIVISION III – SOUTH
Runner of the Week
Caroline Smith – SR, Johns Hopkins University
Smith finished second overall among Division III runners in a race that featured runners from Divisions I, II and III at the Paul Short Meet last week. She crossed the line in 20:38, which set a new personal best six-kilometer time as she finished 33rd overall in the competitive Gold Meet.
Rookie of the Week
Alison Hampton – FR, Westminster College
Hampton finished eighth at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational, completing the five-kilometer course in a time of 20 minutes, 16.85 seconds (6:32/mile). The freshman competed against 71 runners, and helped Westminster secure the team title at the nine-school event.
