ECAC Announces Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week for Week Ending Oct. 15

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week for the week ending Oct. 15.
 
DIVISION II
Runner of the Week
Nicole Maliborska – JR, University of New Haven
 
Maliborska led the New Haven women’s cross country team to a third place overall finish among 10 teams, finishing second overall in a field of 98 runners. She finished with a time of 24:52 in the six-kilometer event.
 
Rookie of the Week
Brianna VandeBunte – FR, West Chester University
 
VandeBunte finished 24th out of 282 runners, helping West Chester finish fourth overall in the 2017 Gettysburg College Invitational. The freshman was West Chester’s fastest runner on the course with a time of 24:05.0 in the six-kilometer event.
 
DIVISION III – Metro
Runner of the Week
Tristiana Adragna – FR, College of Staten Island
 
Adragna ran a career-best 22:48.5 at the St. Joseph’s Invitational, placing her 30th overall amongst 167 runners in the five-kilometer event.
 
Rookie of the Week
Meagan Haviland – FR, St. Joseph’s College – Long Island
 
Haviland placed ninth out of 167 runners at the St. Joseph’s invitational five-kilometer event. The rookie crossed the finish line in a time of 20:55.7.
 
DIVISION III – North
Runner of the Week
Taryn Cordani – SR, Ithaca College
 
Taryn Cordani led all 332 runners at the Principia Cowbell Class - Pre-Nationals. The senior posted a time of 20:45.46 on the six-kilometer course, which was 37 seconds faster than the runner-up at the meet.
 
Rookie of the Week
Abby Hamilton – FR, Bates College
Hamilton placed sixth out of 163 runners with a time of 18:45.0  in the five-kilometer event. Hamilton helped Bates win the Maine State Meet for the second straight year and for the fourth time in six years.
 
DIVISION III – SOUTH
Runner of the Week
Natalia LaSpada – JR, Johns Hopkins University
 
LaSpada won the Rowan Inter-Regional Race crossing the line in 21:11.2 in the six-kilometer event, which was almost three seconds ahead of the second place finisher. The time for LaSpada also set a new personal record in the six-kilometer race as her time bested her previous time of 21:15.1.
 
Rookie of the Week
Parvathi Meyyappan – FR, Carnegie Mellon University
 
Meyyappan competed at the Rowan Inter-Regional Invitational finishing the race 90th overall in a field of 239 runners with a time of 23:50.0 in the six-kilometer event.
