ECAC Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Week for Week Ending Oct. 8
DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Women's Soccer Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 8.
DIVISION II
Offensive Player of the Week
Nikki Zaso - JR, F, West Chester University
Zaso posted three goals this week, including the game-winner to defeat host California (Pa.) by a final score of 2-1. Against Millersville, Zaso tallied a pair of goals in the 3-1 victory. Zaso now leads West Chester in goals.
Defensive Player of the Week
Danitza Indacochea - SR, GK, Gannon University
Indacochea picked up her sixth shutout of the season in a 1-0 win against Seton Hill, representing the fourth-highest single-season total in school history. The senior then made five saves in a hard-fought 1-1 draw against East Stroudsburg.
Rookie of the Week
Casey Luongo - FR, F, New York Institute of Technology
Luongo upped her season goal total to nine by scoring one goal apiece in wins at Caldwell and Molloy.
DIVISION III - METRO
Offensive Player of the Week
Marisa Adelman - SO, F, William Paterson University
Adelman had a big week for William Paterson, scoring twice and assisting on four more in a 2-1 week for the Pioneers. She recorded six points on two goals and two assists in an 8-0 win over John Jay, and also supplied the assist on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 double-overtime win over Drew. The sophomore put eight shots on goal on the week, including two in a conference setback to Kean.
Rookie of the Week
Carly Credidio - FR, F, St. Joseph's College-Long Island
Credidio contributed to her teams' effort after a 10-point week (4 g, 2 a) over a three-game stretch. She scored three points, including the game-winning goal, in a 2-1 victory over Old Westbury. Two nights later, the freshman netted her first collegiate hat trick against York (NY) as her team won 11-0.
DIVISION III - NORTH
Offensive Player of the Week
Dianna Connor - SR, F, Wilkes University
Connor had an impressive showing in the Colonels' 3-1 win over conference-foe FDU-Florham. The senior came off the bench and needed just four shots to score all three goals for her second hat trick of the season in the victory. Connor tied the game just before halftime, and then scored two goals in a span of eight minutes in the second half.
Defensive Player of the Week
Allison Wakefield - SO, GK, SUNY Canton
Wakefield combined to make 18 saves in a busy three-game week for the Roos. She kept the team in the game throughout with a season-high nine-save performance in a 2-0 loss at Clarkson University (6-2-3). The sophomore followed that up with an eight-save performance in a 4-2 loss at Maine Fort Kent. Wakefield closed out her week with one save in a 3-0 win at Maine Presque Isle as she recorded her fourth clean sheet of the season.
Rookie of the Week
Fiona Walsh - FR, GK, Vassar College
Walsh helped lead the Brewers to a 1-0-1 week. In a double-overtime game at Stevens, the rookie made 12 saves and held the Ducks to just one goal. Against Skidmore, she recorded her fifth shutout of the season as Vassar went on to a 3-0 victory. For the week, she picked up 14 saves while posting a .933 save percentage.
DIVISION III - SOUTH
Offensive Player of the Week
Riley O'Toole - FR, F, Johns Hopkins University
O'Toole scored three goals in a 2-0 week for the Blue Jays. She tallied a pair of second-half goals in a 2-1 come-from-behind win against Dickinson. The freshman also netted the lone goal in a 1-0 triumph versus Muhlenberg.
Defensive Player of the Week
Alexis Tunney - JR, GK, Albright College
Tunney recorded a pair of shutouts in a 1-0-1 stretch last week, making 12 saves while facing 28 total shots in 202 minutes of action. The junior was spectacular in a 0-0 double-overtime draw with No. 7 Messiah, making 10 saves on 24 shots. Tunney then made two saves on four shots in a 1-0 overtime win over Lebanon Valley.
Rookie of the Week
Ashley Bergman - FR, GK, Chatham University
Bergman earned her fourth shutout of the season with a 1-0 win against Bethany in which she made a pair of saves. In Wednesday's 2-0 loss at Grove City, she logged five more saves bringing her weekly total to seven.
