ECAC Releases Division III Field Hockey Championship Matchups

DANBURY, Conn.
- The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced Alvernia University will be the overall top-seed in the 2016 ECAC Division III Field Hockey Championship. The championship field will be broken out into two regions for quarterfinal play beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

The Crusaders finished the regular season with an overall mark of 19-2, and will host the fourth seeded team in Region 1, Washington and Jefferson University (15-4).

In Region 1, the No. 2 seed, Muhlenberg College (15-3) will face No. 3 seed Albright College (11-6).

In Region 2, the No. 1 seed, Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham (14-7) will face No. 4 seed Marywood University (12-7) while No. 2 seed, Kean University (16-3) will match up against No. 3 seed Manhattanville University (11-7).

The winners of each round will move on to the semifinals which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the highest remaining seed.


Region 1 First Round - Wednesday, Nov. 9 at Alvernia
No. 1 Alvernia (19-2) vs. No. 4 Washington & Jefferson (15-4) at Alvernia 4:00 p.m.
No. 2 Muhlenberg (15-3) vs. No. 3 Albright (11-6) at Alvernia 7:00 p.m.

Region 2 First Round - Wednesday, Nov. 9 at FDU-Florham
No. 1 FDU-Florham (14-7) vs. No. 4 Marywood (12-7) at FDU-Florham 7:00 p.m

Region 2 First Round - Wednesday, Nov. 9 at Kean
No. 2 Kean (16-3) vs. No. 3 Manhattanville (11-7) at Kean 7:00 p.m.

Semifinals - Saturday, Nov. 12 at highest remaining seed
Semifinal #1: 11:00 a.m.
Semifinal #2: 2:00 p.m.

Championship - Sunday, Nov. 13 at highest remaining seed
Winner Semifinal #1 vs. Winner Semifinal #2 - 12:00 p.m.
