Ithaca’s Palladino, Cortland’s Monnier, Stevens’ Heine Take Individual Honors

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference has announced the ECAC Division III Upstate Women’s Soccer All-Stars. Ithaca College junior Rachael Palladino was named ECAC Offensive Player of the Year and Pam Monnier of SUNY Cortland claimed Defensive Player of the Year. Freshman forward Ann Heine from Stevens Institute of Technology garnered rookie of the year honors. The voting was done by the coaches or their designee in the ECAC Division III Upstate Region membership.

Palladino was named ECAC Offensive Player of the Year after a potent offensive season in which she recorded a team-leading 37 points on 15 goals and seven assists. The reigning two-time Empire 8 Conference Offensive Player of the Year raised her career point total to 119, which currently stands second on Ithaca’s all-time list. The junior added to her soccer pedigree late this fall when she was named to the all-tournament team at the NCCA final four.

Monnier claimed ECAC Defensive Player of the Year honors after a stellar season in net for SUNY Cortland. She finished the season with 11 shutouts in 23 games, posting a sizzling goals-against average of 0.66 to go with her .847 save percentage. The 2011 State University of New York Athletic Conference Player of the Year is Cortland’s career save leader with 314 in four seasons.

Heine, earned the ECAC Rookie of the Year title for her stellar performance up top for the Stevens Ducks. In her inaugural season, she led Stevens with eight goals and ranked second on the team in total points (18). The tallies were also good enough to tie for second place in the Liberty League in scoring and fifth in total points.
