(By Mackenzie Larsen, ECAC Championships Summer Intern)

CENTERVILLE, Mass.--The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2012 Division III Mid-Atlantic Women’s Lacrosse All-Star Team, which was rolled out on Tuesday.  Receiving the individual awards, pictured left to right, SUNY Cortland Lindsay Abbott is the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, goalie Allie Arnal of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, and Shelby Wood of Morrisville State College is the ECAC Rookie of the Year.

Abbott was named a first-team Division III All-American by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association for the second straight year, receiving IWLCA All-America recognition during her four-year collegiate career.  Abbott registered 71 goals and 59 assists to lead the team in scoring and ranked second in the nation in points, while also topping the team and ranking fifth in NCAA assists. The State University of New York Athletic Conference Player of the Year helped lead the No. 2 Red Dragons to a 20-2 record before falling in the National Semifinals to eventual champion Trinity. This is her second straight ECAC Offensive Player of the Year award.

Arnal earned a spot on the ICWA All-Empire Region First Team for the first time.  The Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year led the Engineers to a program-record 16 wins and an appearance in the NCAA tournament.  Arnal started in all 18 games she played, posting a Liberty League-best 8.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .531, which ranked 16th and 11th in the nation, respectively. She holds school records for single-season and career (26) wins.

A freshman midfielder, Wood helped the Mustangs compile a program-best 13-6 overall record. She capped off a stellar first-year campaign by compiling 84 goals and 19 assists for 103 points while being named to the SynapseSports.com All-Rookie Squad.  The North Atlantic Conference West Rookie of the Year and first-team all-conference selection posted a career-best nine goals in a 22-10 victory over Medaille.
