Gwynedd-Mercy Topples Goucher College to Win 2009 ECAC Holiday Festival Title
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA. - The Gwynedd-Mercy Griffins went 2-0 at the Milk House to win the Pool D title. The Griffins, led by Kate Wisniewski's 20 points, defeated Johns Hopkins University on Friday afternoon, 70-56. On the final day of the tournament GMC proved too much to handle on the court handling Goucher College, 90-59. Most Outstanding Player Kristy Cramp (Pennington, N.J.) was versatile this weekend averaging 12.5 ppg, 5 apg, 4 rpg, and 2.5 spg.
Cramp's 11 points against along with a double-double from sophomore Lauren Rosar (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) helped the Griffins (7-3) to the Bracket D title in the win over Goucher College.
Gwynedd ran to a 13-3 lead in the game's first five minutes and did not look back, leading 39-22 at the half. In the second stanza, GM shot 54% from the floor and netted 51 points as the Griffins won by their largest margin so far this season.
Rosar finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds, both game highs. Junior Jackie Dooley (Cheltenham, Pa./Cheltenham) added 13 points.
Tai Young netted 16 points and Leia Roberts Brown chipped in 14 for the Gophers (4-6).
