Fairfield Announces 2008 Captains At Team Banquet Honoring 2007 Season

The Fairfield University men's lacrosse team honored its Class
of 2007 and celebrated the 2007 season at its annual banquet on
Friday, Oct. 19 at the Trumbull Marriott.
Five players were honored with team awards at the banquet,
headlined by the team MVP award being presented to Greg
Downing. The program's first-ever three-time All-America
selection, Downing was also recognized for his efforts that
resulted in being named First Team All-New England, All-ECAC, and
being selected to the USILA North-South Game.
Fellow graduate Mike Bocklet was named the team's offensive
MVP. He earned a selection to the prestigious USILA
North-South game, as well as being named Second Team All-New
England. Chris Atwell and Matt Scanlon, both First Team
All-New England picks, were named the team's co-defensive
MVP's. Chris Ajemian was honored with the team's Unsung Hero
award.
The Stags also announced their team captains for the 2008
season. Five seniors, Atwell, Scanlon, Travis Nelson, Dan
Boudreau and Brendan Finnerty, were selected as the team's
captains, in a vote of their teammates.
Fairfield begins the 2008 campaign on Feb. 23 with a non-conference
game at Providence. The Stags play the first of their six
home games on Mar. 1, hosting Dartmouth. Fairfield will also
host Penn State, Hobart, Georgetown and Loyola, in ECAC Lacrosse
League games, as well as non-conference foe Yale.
