2007 ECAC All-League Team Named

Cape Cod, Mass. - In a vote by the league coaches, Georgetown junior Brendan Cannon has been named ECAC Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year. Jerry Lambe, also of Georgetown, has been tabbed the 2007 ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, Penn State's Drew Adams has earned the Goalkeeper of the Year honor for the second consecutive year, while Rutgers freshman Justin Pennington has been selected as the 2007 ECAC Rookie of the Year. Georgetown's Dave Urick has been chosen as the 2007 ECAC Coach of the Year.

Named the 2007 ECAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Cannon led the Hoyas to an 11-2 overall finish and a perfect 7-0 mark in the ECAC en route to winning the league and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. In 2007, Cannon led the Hoyas with 20 goals and 21 assists, for a team-high 41 points. The junior ranks 18th in the nation with 1.62 assists per game. On two occasions, Cannon has been named ECAC Player of the Week for his efforts. Since April 13, 2005, Cannon has tallied at least a goal or an assist in 34 straight games, the fifth-longest scoring streak in the country. In that span he has scored 47 goals and recorded 60 assists for 107 points.

Fellow Hoya Jerry Lambe has been tabbed the 2007 Defensive Player of the Year. The senior defender caused 12 turnovers and picked up 24 groundballs in the 2007 season. Named the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, Lambe is one of only four defenders in the country to be included in the 17 nominees for the Tewaaraton Trophy. Lambe is an instrumental part of a Hoya defense that averages holding their opponents to fewer than eight goals per game.

For the second consecutive year, Penn State's Drew Adams has been selected ECAC Goalkeeper of the Year. Starting all 13 games this season, Adams posted an impressive 7.78 goals against average. With 153 saves in the 2007 campaign, he sports a .602 save percentage. The sophomore also averaged 6.54 groundballs per contest on the year ranking him fifth in the country in the category.

Justin Pennington from Rutgers University has been tabbed the 2007 ECAC Rookie of the Year. The freshman finished the year with 27 points, good enough for second on the team. He scored 19 goals, dished eight assists while scooping up a team-high 49 groundballs. Named Rookie of the Week four times this season, Pennington also sported a .508 average from the face-off X.

Six of the eight teams are represented in the 2007 ECAC All-League team including three from Penn State and Loyola each, two from Georgetown, and one from both Massachusetts and Rutgers. The 2007 ECAC All-League team includes attackmen Jim Connolly of Massachusetts (Sophomore) and Colin Checcio of Rutgers (Senior), midfielders Greg Downing of Fairfield (Senior), Loyola's Andy Spack (Senior), and Penn State's Pat Heim (Senior), and defensemen Michael Graham of Loyola (Senior), Penn State's Dan Saltsman (Senior) and specialist Dan Kallaugher of Loyola (Grad Student).
