Seven ECAC Women's Players Named All-Americans; Plattsburgh's Danielle Blanchard Wins Hurd Award

Cape Cod, Mass. - Seven ECAC league players have been selected
as 2007-2008 Division III Reebok All-Americans. The All-American
first team features three ECAC players; the second team is
comprised of four ECAC players. The All-American teams are chosen
by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).
Plattsburgh State's Julie Devereux (Lombard, Illinois/Chicago
Mission) and Danielle Blanchard (Newmarket, Ontario/Aurora
Panthers), as well as Manhattanville's Danielle Nagymarosi
(Uxbridge, Ontario/RIT) were named as first team All-Americans.
Julie Devereux, a senior defenseman for the Cardinals, was solid
on the blue line for a Plattsburgh defense that allowed an average
1.10 goals per game. The senior also contributed offensively with
18 assists on the season for the National Champion Cardinals. In
2007 Devereux was a second team All-American selection.
Danielle Blanchard was the ECAC Women's West leading scorer
totaling 28 goals and 20 assists for 48 points. The junior forward
averaged 1.78 goals per game, a total that put her second in the
nation among Division III Women in scoring. In 2007 Blanchard was
named as a first team All-American, and was a second team
All-American in 2006. In addition to being named to the first team
in 2008 Blanchard also received the Laura Hurd Award which is given
annually to the nation's best Division III women's hockey
player.
Danielle Nagymarosi finished the season as the nation's leading
scorer among Women's Division III players averaging 1.83 goals per
game. The junior forward tallied 32 goals and added 21 assists for
a total of 53 points. Nagymarosi was a second team All-American
selection in 2007.
The All-American second team is comprised of four ECAC Players
with Saint Anselm College's Cindy Lebel (Greenville, Maine/Hebron
Academy) and Kelsey Johnson (Byfield, Massachusetts/Governor Dummer
Academy), Elmira College's Kayla Coady (Charlottetown, Prince
Edward Island/Berkshire School), and Dani Poupart (Fernie, British
Columbia/Warner Hockey Academy) of Manhattanville College all
receiving recognition.
Cindy Lebel, a senior blueliner, anchored a Saint Anselm defense
that allowed an average of .92 goals per game. Offensively Lebel
scored six goals and added 11 assists for 17 points. In 2007 Lebel
was a second team All-American, while in 2006 the defenseman was a
first team All-American selection.
Junior Kelsey Johnson was among the top ten scorers in Division
III women's hockey averaging 1.48 goals per game. Johnson tallied
22 goals for 37 points, and was a crucial part of a Hawk's offense
that averaged 4.46 goals per game.
Kayla Coady was the second leading scorer in the ECAC Women's West
with 21 goals and 16 helpers for 37 points on the season. The
junior forward led the Elmira offense and helped the Soaring Eagles
reach the NCAA Semifinals.
Dani Poupart led a Valiant defense that allowed 1.61 goals per
game on the season. The senior defenseman, who totaled 19 points on
the season with one goal and 18 assists, was instrumental in the
Valiants reaching the NCAA National Championship game.
