CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The 2014 NCAA Division III Women’s Frozen Four begins this weekend in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and a pair of perennial powers in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) comprise half of the remaining institutions. National No. 1 and host of the National Semifinals and Championship, Plattsburgh State, is in the Women’s Division III Frozen Four for the third consecutive season and will face University of St. Thomas (Minn.) at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Norwich University Cadets, fresh off eliminating defending National Champion Elmira College, will face University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 7 p.m. The winners of the two semifinals will meet for the 2014 NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey National Championship on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The No. 10-ranked Norwich University womens ice hockey team saw its run towards the 2010 NCAA National Championship come to an end Saturday evening as the Cadets suffered a 7-2 setback to No. 1-ranked Amherst College in the national title game at Don Roberts Ice Rink on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College.

The Norwich University women's ice hockey team captured its second straight ECAC East Tournament title on Sunday afternoon as the second-seeded Cadets shut out fifth-seeded New England College, 3-0, in the championship game at Playland Ice Casino.
