Manhattanville's Nonis Nabs Player of the Week Award
Player of the Week
Holly Nonis- Manhattanville
Junior, Forward, Brampton, Ontario/Saint Thomas
Aquinas
After picking up an ECAC East Co-Player of the Week award the
junior once again helped the Valiants on the score sheet with two
goals and two assists. Against Plymouth State, Nonis picked up two
assists as the Valiants easily defeated the panthers. The following
day, she scored two of the three goals against Southern Maine. This
season, she has 10 goals and eight assists while playing in only 14
games.
Goalie of the Week
Leah Hallett-UMass Boston
Sophomore, Rocky Hill, Conn./Connecticut Polar Bears
In two games, the sophomore was outstanding with a 1.00 goals
against average, while stopping 70 of 72 shots for a .972 save
percentage. Hallett made 40 saves in a 1-0 shutout over
NESCAC opponent Connecticut College on January 29 for her fourth
career shutout and second of the season. She came back the
next day to make 30 more saves, while breaking the school's
single-season record for stops in a year in the Beacons' 4-2
victory over Saint Michael's College. She now has 617 saves
for the season.
Rookie of the Week
Rosemarie Giarrusso-Saint Anselm
Forward, Royal Palm Beach, Fla./North American Hockey
Academy
Giarrusso scored the Hawks' first hat trick since March, 2008,
netting three goals against Nichols College on Friday night to lead
the Hawks to an 8-0 victory.
Honor Roll
Molly Corl-Saint Anselm
Sophomore, Forward, Danvers, Mass./World Hockey
Centre
Molly Corl had a five-point weekend, scoring three goals and two
assists in two games for the Hawks. She notched a goal and
two assists on Friday against Nichols, and then went on to score
both of the Hawks' goals against Holy Cross on Saturday.
Samantha Zitzer-Salve Regina
Freshman, Forward, Lake Forest, Ill.
Zitzer scored two goals- including the game-winner with 3.9 seconds
remaining in regulation-to lift the Salve Regina University women's
ice hockey team to a 3-2 win over Castleton State on Saturday
evening.
Katie Little-Manhattanville
Freshman, Forward, Victoria, British Columbia/Team British
Columbia
Little finished the week with three goals and two assists as she
broke a seven game goal scoring drought. Against Plymouth State,
she scored twice as well as added two assists for a four-point
night. The following day she added the team's second goal against
Southern Maine.
Chiara Traversa-Norwich
Sophomore, Torino, Italy/Kent School
Traversa stopped all 18 shots that he faced en route to picking up
her second shutout of the season on Friday in Norwich's 6-0
blanking of Saint Michael's College. For the season, Traversa shows
a 1.50 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage to go along
with an unblemished 8-0-0 overall record.
