ECAC Women's East All-Conference Teams Announced

Cape Cod, Mass. - Commissioner of the ECAC Rudy Keeling announced today the ECAC Women's East All-Conference teams for the 2008-09 season. The team is voted on by the coaches of the league each year.

Holly Nonis (Brampton, Ontario/Saint Thomas Aquinas) of Manhattanville College earned Player of the Year honors in the Women's East for the 2008-09 season. The sophomore forward scored 17 goals and added 21 assists for 38 points, finishing third in league scoring.  Karine Turmel (Ste-Marguerite, Quebec/Notre Dame Hounds) of Manhattanville College was voted Goalie of the Year, compiling a .930 save percentage, 1.57 goals against average, and 10-3-0 record in league play.  Holy Cross forward Stacey Hochkins (New Boston, Michigan/Honeybaked Lions) received Rookie of the Year honors.  Hochkins leads the Women's East in points scored with 23 goals and 20 helpers for a combined total of 43 points.

Coach of the Year honors went to Peter Van Buskirk of College of the Holy Cross who is in his ninth season behind the bench.  Van Buskirk led the Hawks to an ECAC Women's East regular season title, the ECAC Women's Open Tournament title, and a 24-2-1 overall record.

Joining Nonis, Hochkins and Turmel on the All-ECAC East First Team is forward Jocelyn Kractchmer (Watrous, Saskatchewan/Winston H.S.) from Holy Cross. The defensemen on the All-ECAC East First Team are Norwich freshman Amanda Wilks (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Warner School) and senior Erin Brawley (Stratford, Connecticut/Greenwich Academy) who is a member of the Manhattanville College Valiants.
