Amanda Wilks Name RBK All-American
Norwich University freshman women's ice hockey player Amanda Wilks was named a second team RBK All-American, it was announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association on Thursday evening.
Wilks becomes the first Norwich women's ice hockey player to ever receive All-America honors. The first-year defenseman tied for second on the team with 16 goals. The Winnipeg, Man., product also ranked fourth on the club in assists (17) and points (33).
Wilks, who scored three game-winning goals this past season, topped the Cadets with eight power play markers.
The Cadets wrapped up their record-setting 2008-09 campaign last weekend by losing a hard-fought 3-2 decision to No. 2-ranked Elmira in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
In just its second season competing at the varsity level, Norwich (19-9-1) set program records for wins (19) and conference victories (14) en route to capturing its first ECAC East Tournament title and NCAA berth.
