Jeff Grant of UMass Dartmouth Named ECAC Northeast Player of the Week Presented By Turfer Athletic

Player of the Week

Jeff Grant, UMass Dartmouth
Senior/Forward - Burlington, Mass./Austin Prep

The Corsairs 14th all-time scorer had either a goal or an assist on 7 of the 8 UMD goals in wins over JWU (5-4) and at Nichols (3-2).  In the JWU game, Grant had a power play goal and three assists and had a goal and two assists in the key win over Nichols as the Corsairs sewed up second place for the playoffs. Grant now has 67 goals and 73 assists for 140 career points in 105 games.

Goalie of the Week

Shane Brooks, Southern New Hampshire University
Sophomore - Kennebunk, Maine/Northern Cyclones

Brooks stopped 55 of the 61 shots he faced (.901 save percentage) in a 2-0 week. Made 31 saves in a 4-2 win over Stonehill then stopped 24 shots in a 5-4 win over Franklin Pierce.

Rookie of the Week

Chris Riggs, Fitchburg State College
Forward - Sewell, N.J./Ft. Vancouver Pioneers

Riggs tallied two goals and four assists in a 1-1 week for the Falcons, who secured a playoff berth. Riggs helped the team wrap up a playoff bid by assisting on the game-winning overtime goal in a 3-2 victory over Franklin Pierce. Riggs followed that game up with one goal and two helpers in a tough, 4-3, defeat to Salve Regina.

Honor Roll

Matt McGilvray, Johnson and Wales
Senior, Forward - Rochester, N.H./Laconia Leafs   

McGilvray scored four goals and added a pair of assists as the Wildcats went 1-1 for the week.  In the setback on the road against UMass Dartmouth, he scored two goals and added two assists. He then scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in the teams 7-6 win over Wentworth.

Jason Tarbell, Curry College
Junior, Defenseman - Manchester, N.H./N.H. Jr. Monarchs

Tarbell had a big night against Assumption College picking up seven total points. He scored one goal and had six assists.

Jason Yuel, Curry College
Freshman, Forward
- Winnipeg, Manitoba/Winnipeg Saints (MJHL)  

Yuel had a career high of four goals and three assists against Assumption for seven points. In a 7-3 win against Suffolk, Yuel had one assist.
