Jeff Grant of UMass Dartmouth Named ECAC Northeast Player of the Week Presented By Turfer Athletic

Player of the Week

Jeff Grant, UMass Dartmouth
Senior, Forward - Burlington, Mass./Austin Prep

Grant led the league leading Corsairs to wins over Worcester State (7-1) and Assumption (5-1) notching 2 goals and an assist. Grant's goal in the Assumption win was his second game winner of the season and 17th career game winning goal.  In 93 games played at UMD, Grant has scored 57 goals to go along with 60 assists for 117 points.

Goalie of the Week

Justin Richards, Western New England College
Freshman - Somers, Conn./Somers High School

Richards, in his first collegiate start, led the Golden Bears to their first win of the season by compiling 34 saves in a 3-0 victory over visiting Potsdam. The freshman had 10 saves in the opening stanza, and 12 in both the second and third periods. This was only the third appearance of the season for Richards. It also was WNEC's 200th all-time victory.

Rookie of the Week

Eric Spalt, Franklin Pierce University
Defense - Barnstable, Mass./New Hampton School

Spalt had two goals and an assist in two games last week. The blueliner scored his first collegiate goal and posted his first career multi-point game by adding an assist against Saint Anselm on Wednesday, then scored for the second consecutive game on Saturday against Southern New Hampshire.

Honor Roll

Joe Fields, Franklin Pierce University 
Senior, Forward - Towamencin, Pa./Green Mountain Glades

Fields scored two goals and added an assist in the Ravens' contest against Saint Anselm on Wednesday. The senior captain broke the school's all-time assist record with his 42nd career helper, while his two goals tied him for first place on the school's career goals-scored list with 32.

Tony Stoehr, Becker College  
Sophomore, Goalie- DePere, Wis./Wisconsin River Falls

Stoehr made 57 saves over a two game period as Becker went 1-0-1 over the weekend. Stoehr backboned the Hawks to a  3-2 overtime win over Lebanon Valley with 33 saves and came back the next day and made 24 saves in a 1-1 tie with the Flying Dutchmen.

Jason Yuel, Curry College
Freshman, Forward - Winnipeg, Manitoba/Winnipeg Saints (MJHL)

Yuel, in a 0-2 week for the Colonels, scored two goals against ninth ranked Hobart College.
