Hobart's Moriarty Picks up Player of the Week Award

Player of the Week

Patrick Moriarty-Hobart
Junior, Forward, Lloyd Harbor, N.Y./N.Y. Bobcats

Moriarty led Hobart to a 5-3 win over sixth-ranked Elmira, giving the Soaring Eagles their first ECAC West loss of the season. He totaled two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist in the victory. Moriarty set up the first Statesmen goal of the game, a shorthanded tally in the ninth minute, and went on to score on a power play midway through the second period to put Hobart up 4-1. In the third period, he added another power-play goal, giving the Statesmen a 5-2 lead.

Goalie of the Week

Jonathan La Rose-Neumann
Junior, Edmonton, Alberta/Drumheller Dragons

In his second start for Neumann, Jonathan La Rose made 39 saves as Neumann and #13 Manhattanville tied 0-0 Saturday evening. En route to the shutout, La Rose had to keep the Valiants off the board on eight power plays. He also had to stop 11 Manhattanville shots in the overtime session.

Rookie of the Week

Evan Chlanda-Utica
Forward, Islip, New York/Springfield (EJHL)

Chlanda totaled two goals and one assist in a 2-0 weekend for Utica.  He netted the game-winning goal in the Pioneers' 4-1 victory on Saturday.  He added one goal and one assist in a 4-1 win on Friday night.  Chlanda, who missed seven games due to injury this season, currently ranks sixth on the team with 13 points on eight goals and five assists.

Honor Roll

Matt Ward-Neumann
Senior, Forward, Kemptville, Ontario/Brockville Braves

Ward netted a goal and two assists in the Friday night 4-3 win over #13 Manhattaville. The senior assisted on the first goal of the game. He then scored in the second period to tie the game at 2. His second assist came on the game-winning goal. In the 0-0 tie on Saturday, Ward managed three shots on goal.

Nick Broadwater-Hobart
Freshman, Goalie, Portland, Maine/Jr. Bruins

Broadwater collected 37 saves in Hobart's 5-3 victory over sixth-ranked Elmira, and posted a .925 save percentage. The win marked Broadwater's ninth of the year. He currently leads the ECAC West in save percentage (.926) and ranks second in goals against average (2.41).

Scott Hudson-Manhattanville
Freshman, Forward, St. Albert, Alberta/Sherwood Park Crusaders (AJHL)

Hudson played a role in two of the Valiants' three goals in Friday's game against Neumann, scoring his eighth goal of the year and adding an assist. The freshman leads all ECAC West rookies and ranks fifth nationally with 27 points so far on the season.

Tim Coffman-Utica
Sophomore, Forward, Elverson, Pa./Laconia Leafs

Utica leading scorer Tim Coffman netted two goals and added two assists as the UC men's hockey team swept visiting Lebanon Valley this past weekend.  He tallied one goal and one assist as the Pioneers defeated the Dutchmen 6-5 on Friday night and he added one goal and one assist in a 4-1 victory on Saturday night.  He currently ranks second in the conference with 30 points this season.
