Manhattanville's Piegza Nabs Player of the Week Honors

Player of the Week

Matt Piegza-Manhattanville
Senior, Forward, Chicago, Ill./New Jersey Hitmen (EJHL)

Piegza led Manhattanville with four points in two Valiant victories last week, recording a goal and an assist in Friday's win over Utica and then coming back with another two-point game on a pair of helpers Sunday at Morrisville State.

Goalie of the Week

Nick Broadwater-Hobart
Freshman, Portland, Maine/Jr. Bruins

Broadwater recorded his first career shutout in a 1-0 win over Neumann on Friday, collecting 26 saves. The next night, he stopped 38 shots in a 3-2 victory over the Knights. For the weekend, Broadwater allowed just two goals, while posting a 1.01 goals against average and a .970 save percentage. He currently leads the ECAC West in save percentage (.926) and ranks second in goals against average (2.35).

Rookie of the Week

Mark Morikawa-Elmira
Forward, Redondo Beach, Calif./Alberni Valley Bulldogs (BCHL)

Morikawa provided Elmira with consistent offense this weekend as he earned three points in Elmira's two games against Lebanon Valley College.  In game one he scored a goal and assisted on another.  In game two he scored Elmira's second goal of the game which put them up 2-1 at the time.  He has a season total of 7 points.

Honor Roll

Pierre-Olivier Lemieux-Manhattanville
Sophomore, Goalie, Rimouski, Quebec/Neepawa Natives (MJHL)

Lemieux earned a pair of victories in goal for Manhattanville last week, running his record to 10-1-0 on the year with wins over Utica and Morrisville. The sophomore made 21 saves as the Valiants took down Utica by a 6-3 score on Friday night, then stopped all 31 shots he faced to post his third career shutout with a 3-0 win at Morrisville State on Sunday.

Brendan Sanders-Elmira
Sophomore, Mississauga, Ontario/Vaughan Vipers (OPJHL)

Sanders earned 5 points over the weekend as the Soaring Eagles traveled to face Lebanon Valley for two ECAC West games.  In game one Sanders earned three assists including the assist on the game winner.  In game two he picked up three assists and again assisted on the game winner.  He now has 15 points on the season including 12 assists.

Aleksey Koval-Hobart
Senior, Forward, Kiev, Ukraine/Albany Academy

Koval tallied a goal and an assist in two wins at Neumann over the weekend. He scored the only goal in a 1-0 shutout of the Knights on Friday, and added an assist in a 3-2 win the next night.

Tim Coffman-Utica College
Sophomore, Forward, Elverson, Pa./Laconia Leafs

Utica leading scorer Tim Coffman netted two goals as the Utica College men's hockey team lost to nationally-ranked No. 14 Manhattanville College in front of 3,656 fans at the Utica Memorial Auditorium Friday night.  Coffman currently ranks second in the conference with 25 points on 14 goals and 11 assists.
