Babson's Hoban Nabs Player of the Week Award
Player of the Week
Mike Hoban-Babson
Sophomore, Forward, Medfield, Mass./St. Sebastian's
Hoban recorded four goals and three assists for seven points in a
2-0-1 week for Babson. On Tuesday, he recorded one goal and
assisted three others in a 6-2 victory over non-conference power
Curry. Then on Friday, Hoban scored the game-winning goal in a 4-1
victory over Saint Michael's. Hoban finished the week by scored a
pair of goals in a 3-3 tie with second-ranked Norwich on
Saturday.
Goalie of the Week
Ryan Klingensmith-Norwich
Senior, Morton, Pa./Philadelphia Flyers (MJHL)
Klingensmith stopped all 22 shots that he faced en route to
picking up his sixth shutout of the season on Friday in Norwich's
2-0 blanking of UMass-Boston, He stopped 14 shots on Saturday as
the Cadets rallied to earn a 3-3 tie at Babson College. For the
season, Klingensmith shows a 1.23 goals-against average and a .934
save percentage.
Rookie of the Week
Ryan Smith-Babson
Forward, Lynnfield, Mass./Boston Bulldogs (AJHL)
Smith totaled two goals and two assists for four points in a 2-0-1
week for Babson. He recorded one goal and one assist in the
Beavers' 6-2 win over Curry and then added a goal in Babson's 4-1
victory over Saint Michael's on Friday. Smith dished out an assist
in Babson's final game of the week - a 3-3 tie with second-ranked
Norwich on Saturday.
Honor Roll
Ryan Donovan-UMass Boston
Senior, Goalie, Rexford, N.Y./Hartford Wolf Pack
(AJHL)
In his only game of the week, the senior posted a 2.02 goals
against average and a .923 save percentage. Donovan stopped
24 of 26 shots in 59:28 vs. nationally-ranked number two Norwich
University on January 29.
Tyler Atkins-Castleton
Sophomore, Defender, Brockville, Ontario/Brockville
(CJHL)
Not only did Atkins score his first-collegiate goal in a 5-0 win
over Connecticut College, but he also notched his first-collegiate
hat trick in the same game to lead the Spartans over the Camels on
Saturday. Atkins buried a goal in each period including a
shorthanded goal at 11:43 of the third period to cap off his hat
trick.
Blake Forkey-Norwich
Freshman, Forward, Boca Raton, Fla./Avon Old Farms
Forkey scored two goals, including the game-tying marker in the
final minute of regulation time, in Norwich's 3-3 overtime tie at
Babson College on Saturday afternoon. For the season, Forkey leads
the team in goals (14) and points (26), while listing third in
assists (12).
Coleman Noonan-Saint Anselm
Junior, Forward, Norfolk, Mass./Catholic Memorial
Noonan skated to a five-point weekend, notching three goals and
two assists in two games for the Hawks. He scored two goals,
one shorthanded, and an assist against Trinity College on Friday
night, to lead the Hawks to a 5-3 victory. He then netted a
goal and an assist on Saturday evening against the Wesleyan
University Cardinals.
