Seven ECAC Men's Players Named All-Americans; Norwich's Rick Cleaver Runner-up for Sid Watson Award

Cape Cod, Mass. - Seven ECAC league players have been selected as 2007-2008 Division III Reebok All-Americans. The teams were announced at the NCAA Division III Championship Banquet on Friday. Three players have been named first team All-Americans; the second team is comprised of four ECAC players. The All-American teams are chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).

Hobart College goalie Keith Longo (Hopedale, Mass./Central Texas), Norwich University forward Rick Cleaver (Parksville, B.C./Salmon Arm Silverbacks ), and Mike Richard (LaSalle, Quebec/Gloucester Rangers) a forward from Elmira College were tabbed first team All-Americans.

Statesmen Keith Longo had an impressive junior campaign compiling a 14-7-2 overall record on the year. Longo's .931 save percentage was fourth best among all Division III goalies in the country. The junior allowed an average of 2.42 goals per game in 24 games played.

Rick Cleaver was the leading scorer in ECAC Men's East this season tallying 31 goals to go along with 19 helpers for an even 50 points on the year. Cleaver's 1.79 points per game put him in the top ten in scoring among all Division III players. The Cadet forward was also a first team All-American in 2007, and earned second team honors in 2006. This year Cleaver was the runner up for the Sid Watson Award given annually to the top men's college hockey player in Division III.

Mike Richard was tops among Soaring Eagle scorers and second in the ECAC Men's West this season totaling 43 points. The senior was the assist leader in the ECAC Men's West this year with 33 helpers. Richard was instrumental in leading Elmira to an NCAA Semifinal appearance at Lake Placid, New York.  

The All-American second team is comprised of four ECAC Players with Elmira College's Casey Tuttle (Chelsea, Maine/Portland Jr. Pirates, AJHL) and Nic Dumoulin (Prevost, Quebec/St. Jerome Panthers, LHJAAAQ), Norwich's Nikita Kashirsky (Moscow, Russia/Walpole Stars), and Neil Trimm (Westmeath, Ontario/Pembroke Lumber Kings Jr. A) of Neumann College all receiving recognition.

Soaring Eagle goalie Casey Tuttle totaled an impressive 19- 4- 5 record between the pipes this season for Elmira. The sophomore compiled a .923 save percentage and 1.94 goals against average in 28 games played.  

Nic Dumoulin was solid all season on the blue line for Elmira, leading a stingy Purple and Gold defense that allowed 1.93 goals per game. The junior defenseman scored 12 goals and added 18 helpers for a 30 point total on the season.

Norwich forward Nikita Kashirsky played a huge role in a Cadet offense that was the third highest scoring offense among Division III schools averaging 4.70 goals per game. The junior was the second leading scorer in the ECAC Men's East, totaling 42 points on 20 goals.   

Neumann forward Neil Trimm was fourth in the nation among Division III scorers averaging 1.96 points per game. The senior was also the top scorer in the ECAC Men's West totaling 45 points on 15 goals and 30 assists. In 2007 Trimm was a named to the First Team All American East.
