RPI to Host 2012 Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship Thursday
CENTERVILLE. Mass. – The ECAC Division III Track & Field Championship will be hosted this week by Rennsselaer Polytechnic Institute at the Ned Harkness field and track in Troy, New York. Over 160 Division III men’s and women’s programs will compete in the two-day championship beginning on Thursday, May 17 and concluding on Friday, May 18.
Ithaca College captured the 2011 women’s title over second place Tufts University by a final margin of 80.5 to 54. The 2011 men’s championship was won by Bates College, who beat out runner-up Ithaca College with final team scores of 63 to 45.5, respectively. The championship will begin Thursday afternoon with the men’s decathlon events at 1:00 p.m. followed by the women’s decathlon at 1:30 p.m. Friday morning’s events will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the conclusion of the heptathlon and decathlon competitions.
