East Meadow, New York - December 5, 2010 - The 2010 ECAC Swimming and Diving Season Warm Up Championships at Nassau County Aquatics Center concluded today following four sessions of competition over three days. More than 450 swimmers from 17 ECAC institutions competed in the championship, which featured 40 events and 28 new ECAC meet records.
In the men’s swimming and diving competition, Stevens Institute of Technology claimed the overall team title with a score of 2,003.50. SUNY Geneseo finished second in the men’s competition with a score of 1,212, followed by Keene State in third with a score of 1,108.50. In an extremely competitive meet, the women of Stony Brook University took the overall team title in the women’s swimming and diving competition, posting a score of 1,592.50. Stevens IT posted a score of 1,592 to finish as runner-up, and SUNY Geneseo took third with a score of 1,470.
Several competitors and coaches were recognized by the ECAC for their outstanding performances over the weekend. In the diving competition, Nicholas Halbach of United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) was named Men’s Diver of the Meet. Halbach finished first overall in the men’s one meter and three meter diving competitions, breaking meet records with scores of 519.10 (3M) and 527.15 (1M). USMMA coach Kevin Ryan was named Men’s Diving Coach of the Meet.
Cassie Brown of SUNY Geneseo finished first in the women’s one meter competition and second in the three meter competition on her way to taking home the Women’s Diver of the Meet award. Brown posted scores of 356.25 (1M) and 334.85 (3M). Serra Czapla of Stony Brook University finished first overall in the three meter competition with a score of 347.80. Their coaches, Shawn Austin of SUNY Geneseo and Brian Yodice of Stony Brook University, were named Women’s Diving Co-Coaches of the Meet.
In the Men’s Swimming competition Stevens Institute of Technology‘s John Hu was named Men’s Swimmer of the Meet. Hu finished first overall in four individual events, including ECAC meet records in the 200 Butterfly, 200 IM and 400 IM. Hu also won the 200 Breastroke and contributed 128 points for his team. Trevor Miele of Steven’s IT was named the Men’s Swimming Coach of the Meet.
Michelle Rodriguez from SUNY Geneseo was named the Women’s Swimmer of the Meet after her strong performances in the 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle. Rodriguez set new ECAC meet records in all three events and contributed 96 points to her team score. Stevens IT’s Trevor Miele matched his men’s award by being named the Women’s Swimming Coach of the Meet as well.

MEET ANNOUNCEMENT
The 2010 ECAC Season Warm-Up Open Swimming and Diving Championships will take place at Nassau County Aquatics Center in East Meadow, New York this weekend. Teams from 17 ECAC institutions will compete in 40 swimming and diving events over three days.
Competition will begin Friday, December 3, with the first session starting at 6:00 p.m. Session two will take place on Saturday, December 4, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by session three beginning at 6:00 p.m. The fourth and final session will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 5.
