Georgetown University Captures ECAC Women’s Championship Division Cross Country Crown
BRONX, N.Y. - Georgetown University had five runners in the top 10 to take home the team title in the ECAC Women’s Championship Division Cross Country race on Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park. The Hoyas were led by junior Andrea Keklak (Sudbury, Mass.) who placed second with a time of 18:09.9. She was followed in third by senior teammate Joanna Stevens (Blacksburg, Va.) who ran the course in 18:19. George Mason junior Bethany Sachtleben (Manassas, Va.) finished first overall out of 70 runners with a time of 17:24.7.
The University of Pittsburgh captured the ECAC Women’s University Division Cross Country title. Sophomore Hillary Boxheimer (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished the 5k course in a time of 18:20.8 to place third overall and pace four Panthers in the top 25. Sacred Heart University senior Brianna Castrogivanni (Commack, N.Y.) led the field of 162 competitors with a time of 17:58.8.
Freshman Alex Fiesel (Wilton, Conn.) finished first in the ECAC Coaches’ Women’s race with a time of 20:08.4 as St. Joseph’s University had five of the top six runners to take first as a team. St. Joseph’s sophomore Emily Chaundy (Eldersburg, Md.) was right behind her in second with a time of 20:11.6. University of Delaware freshman Rebecca Gessler (Ellicott City, Md.) finished third at 20:15.8.
